How It Work

Several of the 24 unique sources that power the NetGeo engine are proprietary, patent-pending tWithin the NetGeo system, intelligent data aggregators located around the Internet are constantly collecting information from many different sources regarding the IP space, which consists of approximately 4.3 billion addresses. All of this data is stored in NetGeo's local databases. A proprietary Artificial Intelligence Engine is then used to generate the geo-targeted database that is shipped to customers. Verifia will periodically ship a new database to customers in order to make sure that they always have the most accurate, up-to-date information. The frequency with which the database is updated depends on the granularity of the information requested by the customer and the rate of change of information in the database.

Verifia's software solution consists of a geo-targeting database and API that are shipped to the customer via FTP, the web, or CD-ROM. The total size of the package ranges from 5-40MB, depending on the granularity of the data, so it can reside in RAM and can easily be installed on most any server. The API consists of three function calls: open session, close session, and get_IP_information. Integration with other systems is thus relatively straightforward and can normally be accomplished in one day.

The following diagram is a general illustration of how the system is deployed. The customer will install the software on a local server. Most all operating systems and programming environments are supported. When a user hits the customer's web site, the customer can then pass the user's IP address through the NetGeo API and retrieve the geographic information, or other business intelligence, in under 0.2 milliseconds.

Web Access - User requests information from a web site

Visitor IP Address - Company's web server queries the NetGeo database using the user's IP address

Business Intelligence Information - NetGeo engine returns intelligence concerning the user (country, state, city, ZIP, company, organization, connection type)

Business Customization - Company can use the intelligence in any variety of ways, from customizing content or advertising, to identifying potentially credit fraudulent transactions, to load-balancing, to managing the distribution of digital media
